Restore backup in Windows XP It's easy!!

Restore backup Fortunately you've made backups of your system because now a virus has infected your computer and has damaged several files on your computer. Or someone else has worked on your computer and he or she has accidentally deleted some very important documents. How do you get these important documents back? In the Windows XP backup function there is also a 'restore backup' function. With this function you can get your backed up files back easily. So if you have made a backup of your important documents which were damaged or deleted, you can easily get them back using this function. How to restore backup files will be explained here step by step. Step 1: Open the Windows XP utility by: Click Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Backup Or click Start -> Run and type 'ntbackup'. The next screen is shown.
Step 2: Here we click 'Advanced mode'. The next screen is shown.
Step 3: In this screen we click the 'Restore Wizard (Advanced)' button to start the restore backup function. The wizard will start and you click 'Next' and then the next screen is shown.
Step 4: Here you browse to the backup files you have created earlier using the Windows XP backup function. If you have selected the backup file from where you want to restore from (normally the last incremental or last normal backup) this file is shown on the left.
You can click on that file and all the folders and files which were backed up into that file are displayed on the right. Here you can navigate to the files you want to get back. The files must be selected by putting √ in the box.If you have selected the files you want back you click 'Next'. The next screen is shown.
Step 5: Here you click the 'Advanced' button. The next screen is shown.
Step 6: Here you can choose where to restore backup files. There are three options to choose:- Original location
Select this option if you want the backed up files and folders to be restored to the folder or folders they were in when they were backed up.- Alternate location
Select this option if you want the backed up files and folders to be restored to a folder that you designate. This option will preserve the folder structure of the backed up data; all folders and subfolders will appear in the alternate folder you designate.- Single folder
Select this option if you want the backed up files and folders to be restored to a folder that you designate. This option will not preserve the folder structure of the backed up data; the files will appear only in the folder that you designate. In this example I have selected 'Original location' because normally you want the files back again at the original location. The next screen is shown.
Step 7: Here you choose what to do when files exist on your computer. You can choose to replace the file by the file in de backup or to leave the existing files. This is up to you.The next screen is shown.
