You are looking for free useful tools and software? You are here at the right place!

On the internet you can find a lot of free software. But there is a difference between 'free software' and 'free software'. For example there is free software in form of a 'Trial version'.
A trial version is a version which you can try for a short period, like 30 days. After you have tried this free software for 30 days you have to activate it. Often you can buy a serial key on the website of the software manufacturer. If you don't activate it, the software will be no longer usable.

Now there is also another type of free software. This is called 'freeware'.
Freeware is free to download and you can use it without any restrictions like a 30 day trial version.

Of course not everyone does know where or how to find these free software products.
That's why I created this page to help you find these free useful tools.

I will discuss all kinds of useful products which you can use on your computer……

Remote Shut Down

Do you have many computers at home which are connected to your network and you don’t want to walk to the garret each time you have to shut down the computer?
Than Remote Shut Down is the tool you need!

This small tool has only one functionality but does this functionality excellent: Shut down Windows computers in the network. You simply enter the name of the computer and you choose rather to shutdown or restart the computer or to put it in standby mode.
If there is a user working on that computer, you can inform this user about your plans. You can delay your remote instruction and send a message along with it so the user knows what’s happening. This message will be sent as a system message.
The instructions you gave can also be canceled. For example if the user was working on a very important document.

NetLimiter

When you download a lot, you know the problem: your download program uses all your available bandwidth and you cannot even surf the internet or check your email anymore. In this situation the free tool NetLimiter is very useful. Using this tool you can set how much bandwidth each program may use. You can set a maximum download- and upload speed for each connection a process creates.
NetLimiter is also equipped with a build-in firewall functionality, so you be the administrator for the entire network traffic.

DynDNS

If you have a server running at home or if you want remote access to your computer, you have to know the IP address of your internet connection at home. This is quite difficult to remember if you have a connection where the IP address changes often (also called a dynamic IP address).

Fortunately there are services like DynDNS. This service can be installed on your computer. DynDNS provides a server with the IP address you got at that moment and links it to an easy to remember 'name address' (DNS name), like MyHomeServer.dyndns.org. After creating an account on the website, you download the DynDNS-client.
At the installation of this program you can configure DynDNS using a wizard. This program detects your public or external IP address automatically. Then you link an easy to remember 'name address' to your public or external IP address.

You can configure this program as a service so it will be automatically started if Windows is started up and it will be running as a background service.

There are also routers which are equipped with this functionality so your computer doesn't have to be powered on all time.

Advanced Remote Info

If you want overview of all computers in your network, you can use at best Advanced Remote Info. This tool can search your network for computers and give you very detailed information about them.

If you have enough rights on the systems, you can collect very easy the complete specifications of that computer, an overview of running services, processes, disk drives, installed software, shared folders or printers and user.Furthermore you can connect to this remote computer using the command line or graphical user interface. There is even a screen shot-extension which can be downloaded so you can make screen shots from this remote computer as well.Another great thing you can do with this tool is that you can boot a remote computer via your network using the Wake-on-LAN functionality (if the network card in that computer supports Wake-on-LAN)
